This past weekend we attended my annual family reunion, it was a good time and we also celebrated my grandmother’s 90th birthday.

In addition to the great food and good company we did something new this year, we picked the “most creative” pumpkin winner in the 2nd Annual Build Me A Pumpkin contest.

The decision to have my family vote was made before the contest was launched and they didn’t disappoint me, they voted with enthusiasm and agonized over their decisions.

My family is a diverse group.

The judges ranged from school teachers to engineers as well as seven of the great grandkids.

The pumpkin receiving the most votes was entry 029, Sir Rip D. Fleshkin.

The judges really liked the concept of a pumpkin ripping off its skin to reveal a sinister face lurking beneath.

Congratulations on a creepy concept.

This contest also features a randomly drawn winner.

The winning pumpkin chosen via www.random.org was entry 004, Charles McScardeylantern.

Congratulations on another creepy concept.

Thank you to everyone that participated, the entries were wonderful and it was great to see all the creative concepts.

Work will start on the two winning pumpkins the end of this month.

Stay tuned as I will post pictures of the building process.

Thanks again!

  1. Now that is a serious looking bunch of judges! I bet that made for some interesting conversations as they pondered the choices.
